about

38 Nottingham Musicians have collaborated together in order to create a single based on real stories from our homeless here in Nottingham by Cibele. With every purchase of this single, 100% donated profists and royalties will be given to Framework and Emmanuel House (50/50) to aid those we wish to help.

We have worked for free and all venues needed to rehearse, record and launch this single have donated their space and expertise for free. We earn nothing in order to give to those who have less.

::PLEASE DONATE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN::

lyrics

My name is Natalie,
And I was 15yrs old when I
moved to Nottingham now I’m 56,
Well I’ve worked all my life
but my partner overdosed,
Now I got to know the streets
This dog is all I own

And I’ll get back,
On my feet again
Get back, on my feet

My name is Sean & I’m a father of 7,
I owned two trucks &
a man worked for me,
When my youngest babe died in my arms
and in 7 days my dad followed,
I took to the streets,
But on methadone coming clean

And I’ll get back
See my kids again
Get back, on my feet

Life events contribute to relationship breakdowns,
Loosing your job, no home & substance misuse
Can make homelessness harder to get round

We’re James & Caroline,
We met at age 8
We had ice-cream on Skeggy beach,
before we parted ways,
We met again in Birmingham
then at 34 in Nottingham,
It seems that we
were just meant to be

And we’ll get back,
Have a home again,
Get back, on our feet

An Increase in 6yrs of 400 homeless in East Mids alone,
Lack of housing, job, leaving prison or army makes it difficult to integrate back into society.

They call me Matty,
Out of jail now a year,
When she committed fraud,
Took the fall, got 2yrs,
I now pay her a fiver,
To wash my clothes to see my father,
He loves to hear,
How well life is for me

And I’ll get back,
Make him proud again

17x more likely to be victims of assault,
1 in 3 are deliberately kicked, or shown other forms of violence whilst homeless.

My name is Martin, I became homeless in March,
Wrote her name in grief, still reach for her in my sleep,
Got bruises & cuts when a man beat & pissed on me,
That’s just another problem,
destroying my belief

And I’ll get back,
Be a poet again,
our vulnerable are 9x more likely to commit suicide.

And Frank was always cold,
He had cuts on his hands & across his nose,
He died one month ago
Of a suspected overdose.

And there have been,
Too many things & people in my life that,
Gave me hope or swift demise,
But I want,
More than weighs me down in tonnes,
I want a home, I want a life, a chance..
To get back on my feet again

Those people’ they don’t know me,
throw beer, insults, throw stones at me.
I keep to myself until 10 drunk try to piss on me,
doubt they’ll think twice about what they did to me.
You think you’re worth more than me,
But your addictions, your depression, situations bring you close to me.
You understand little and see nothing,
That you’re actually a fine line to becoming me.
I didn’t choose this, no one would,
My decisions were made, sometimes for me.
I want more than this, to feel safe in a bed with a roof on it,
Knowing whether or not I’ll get through this
Don’t judge me! It wasn’t drugs that got me here,
It’s being human that delivered me

Get back
on our feet again
Get back on our feet (x6)
